This needlework cabinet had great sentimental value to the client but was in a condition that left it without any attraction in the home. There had been a considerable loss of the crossbanded edging on the lid and it had been painted a dark brown . The cabinet was stripped back to the wood on both the outer and inner surfaces. The cabinet was constructed with an oak veneered ply. The cross banded edge on the lid was remade with oak. It was then lacquered with a clear lacquer finish that highlighted the oak figuring. To prevent the lid opening to far a brass stay was fitted.
