This was collected in parts after being stored for many years.  The surface finish was damaged and perished with missing veneers. The chrome fittings were damaged and pitted. Parts had warped and no longer fitted together.  The client decided it best to arrange for the fittings to re-chromed and they were removed and taken to Hampshire Electroplating, a specialist company in Southampton, Hampshire who carry out re-chroming. Extensive repairs were then made to the wardrobe, the surface finish was stripped and then polished.

The newly chromed fittings were collected and refitted to the compactum. A broken handle was repaired and a strip of leather that joined up the hanger rail was replaced with an identical piece.  It was then  re-assembled in the workshop to ensure it fitted together correctly.
