I had an old ladies desk which had been badly mistreated over the years with many scratches and scuff marks and Ian has restored it beutifully to its former glory. Its looks brand new. Also Ian re-upholstered a headboard in my own material and again this looks splendid. We asked Ian to restore a badly scratched oak dining table and when it came back it looked beautiful with a perfect colour match and no sign of where the scratches had been. He also fixed the dining chairs that had become very wobbly and are now back in use. We have since asked him to repair a scratched oak chest of drawers and are equally pleased with that. Ian is very professional in his work - he does what he says he will do, for the price that he quotes, in the time he says it will take. Ian is a true craftsman. I asked him to repair two piano stools for me and both were finished quickly and to an incredibly high standard. One of the stools was extremely tatty when I took it to him, but looked so much better on return that  our initial response was that he had given us the wrong stool! We asked Ian to re-finish a very tired Sixties Scandi coffee table for us – a bit different from his usual line of work on pieces with more age on them – and were delighted with the result, which brought it right back to its original condition. It will give us many years of pleasure, and we have recommended Ian to a number of friends who have furniture in need of a facelift with total confidence. We have several other pieces of the same vintage which are in a similar condition to the coffee table, or worse, and will be passing them over to Ian so that he can exercise his craft on them too in the next few months. There is no doubt in our minds that the results will be consistent with the first project. Ian is clearly a real craftsman who is capable of a range of restoration work well beyond what we have asked him to undertake, and it is a real pleasure to deal with him.John R
