ARM CHAIR

As the photograph shows this chair was in very poor condition and required considerable work to the frame as well as finishing the surface and upholstering.

What was left of the glue had perished and the chair was taken apart and any repairs made to the components of the frame.

Repairs included fitting false tenons into the ends of the rails.  The previous tenons had been damaged and poorly repaired and were no longer of any substance.  New wood was grafted onto and the tenons cut to fit into the mortice on the legs.

The right front leg was reinforced with a new section of wood at the top and mortice joints cut for the side rails.

many other smaller repairs and patches were made to the chair and previous cracked areas were consolidated.

A drop in seat frame was then made and upholstered.
